COMPLETE ORGAN TRANSPOSITION (SITUS VISCERUM INVERSUS TOTALIS) A CLINICAL CASE STUDY

Abstract

Relevance: a complete transposition of the organs (situs viscerum inversus totalis) is very rare condition among the world population. The knowledge of the patient's anatomy has great importance in the diagnosis and treatment of the thoracic and abdominal surgical diseases. Objective of the study: to demonstrate the significance of the diagnostic radiology methods (in the example of magnetic resonance tomography) in the primary diagnosis of various variants of the situs viscerum inversus totalis of the thoracic and abdominal cavity organs. Also, to illustrate the consequential methods of the diagnostic radiology in the choice and determination method and volume of surgical intervention at the occurrence of surgical pathology of thoracic and abdominal cavity organs, accompanied by multiple variants of situs viscerum inversus totalis. Research methods: Observational study. Discussion: magnetic resonance imaging revealed the presence of dextrocardia and complete mirror-image arrangement of the internal organs in the patient. Conclusions: consequently, the patients with dextrocardia can be occurred the other organ abnormalities with strong possibility. Diseases of the chest and abdominal organs in combination with dextrocardia should be considered as indications for magnetic resonance imaging of the chest and abdominal organs using contrast agents.
