POSTPARTUM TAKOTSUBO CARDIOMYOPATHY: A CLINICAL CASE

Abstract

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is a rare clinical syndrome characterized by reversible systolic dysfunction of the left ventricle. The disease typically presents with symptoms of acute coronary insufficiency, often mimicking the clinical picture of myocardial infarction with ST segment elevation. Takotsubo cardiomyopathy most commonly affects women over 70 years of age. There are few documented cases of this condition occurring in pregnant women and almost none in the postpartum period. This article presents a clinical case of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy in a multiparous woman during the late postpartum period and provides current insights into the principles of diagnosing this pathology.
